2023: Jam-Packed

If 2022 was already non-stop action, 2023 was jam-packed, to the max.

SAW and CNY were both early last year and I managed to find time to look back at the year before by end of Jan, while this time it took my until now to be able to have some time to reflect. Today is probably the first time I’m able to stay home the entire day in a long, long while.

And yet I don’t even know where to start. Beginning the year with SAW has become somewhat of a ritual, and it also means that New Year’s Day doesn’t mean much other than that we have to work through the period in preparation for SAW. It is only afterwards that I get to be able to think about what just happened, and what went on in the past 12 months.

The difference to 2022 I guess, is more work trips, more exhibitions, and more developments in my personal practice. In a sense, 2023 built on 2022 to be more, not just more in terms of quantity, but also in terms of meaningfulness, significance, connections, and… more.

Perhaps it makes most sense to think about the year through work, and through art; since they both take up most of my time, even though I should really try to manage it better.
