My Ten Beliefs

In a bid to better understand myself — something that we are always striving for but can never possibly quite achieve — I decided to write down ten beliefs that I hold true to at this point in time of my life.

Of course, this is fluid as we are constantly forming new beliefs as we are exposed to new information. Our brains are wired to look for patterns and extract meaning; and it is from our personal experiences, our knowledge, our memories, and all that is stored within our brain of what we perceived throughout our lives that can be distilled into what we recognise as our beliefs.

I’m hoping that this exercise will help me be more aware, both of myself and of the world, to guide me in what I do and the decisions I make in life, the kind of life I want to live, and the kind of person I wish to become. Time to time, I hope to revisit this to remind myself of what I believe in, to reaffirm them, or to revise them as necessary.

1) Reality is built upon perceptions

This is what I’ve always believed in since a long time ago. When I still growing up, I became very curious about what and how people think. I was puzzled how people can see the same thing yet…
